Our team of professionals here at Safety Compliance Management are unique – not simply due to their hands-on experience in the safety and environmental fields, but because they have considerable expertise in their subject areas and/or their credentials meet or succeed the industry standard. Our staff develops and presents customized OSHA safety, hazardous material, DOT and environmental (RCRA, Title 22) training throughout the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, Oakland, Fremont). Safety Compliance Management has customized and provided safety training and environmental management services throughout Southern (Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Diego), Central (Fresno, Bakersfield), and Northern (Sacramento) California. Our team also provides safety assessments to large industries to develop a culture of safety.

PAUL GANTT, PH.D., CSP, CHST, CET President and Founder
Paul Gantt is the President and founding member of SCM Safety with over 35 years of experience in the fields of safety and health and emergency response. Before starting SCM Safety, Dr. Gantt worked in the fire service where he worked in several positions including Firefighter/Paramedic, Fire Captain, Fire Battalion Chief, Training Officer, Fire Marshal, and Chief Officer. Paul has undergraduate degrees in Fire Science and Public Administration. He also has a Master’s Degree in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management, and a Ph.D, in Human Services. He is also a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), and a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST). Paul is also one of the firm’s qualified expert witnesses and regularly works with attorneys providing legal services and testimony in a range of safety, health, regulatory compliance, and premises liability issues. When Paul is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and grandkids. When he has the time to get away, his favorite place to go is Las Vegas to cheer on the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team!

LAURA GANTT, OHST Chief Executive/Administrative Officer
Laura Gantt is our Chief Administrative Officer and one of the founding members at SCM Safety. She has over 35 year of safety experience and she has an Associates in Liberal Arts. Laura is a certified Fire and crime prevention officer, a crime scene technician, a Junior Fire Starters Interventionist as well as an Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician. Her areas of expertise are in general health and safety and regulatory written programs. When Laura isn’t working she plays classical violin for a local ensemble. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends and going to church.

DAVE MILLS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
Dave Mills is the Execuctive Vice President of SCM Safety. He has a long history of experience with 34 years in the Aviation industry, 15 years as a general manager and is a 20-year military veteran in the Royal Air Force. Some of Dave’s areas of expertise are in business development, executive management and strategic development and decision-making. He holds a Bachelors in Aerospace Studies, a Bachelors in Adult Education and has a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant License. He is currently studying Risk Management and Strategic Decision Making at Stanford University. He is also a member of MENSA and the Institute of Engineering Technicians. When Dave isn’t running operations at SCM-Safety he enjoys time with his family, renovating his home and wine tasting.

MARISA GONZALEZ (Bilingual) General Manager
Marisa Gonzalez has been with SCM Safety since 2014 and is now our General Manager. Marisa is currently working towards obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. In her free time Marisa enjoys spending time with her family and her cat.

KIRSTIE CHISHOLM REMOTE TRAINING MANAGER
Kirstie Chisholm is the Remote Training Manager at SCM Safety. She has been with Safety Compliance Management since March 2014. She is currently working on expanding our course catalog and developing new OSHA, EPA and ER online training courses while working towards becoming a Certified Safety Professional. Before working at SCM Safety, Kirstie has worked as a Customer Service Representative in private aviation as well as Visual Merchandising, giving her the opportunities and skills needed to interact with a variety of clients. Away from the office, Kirstie enjoys spending valuable time with her family and traveling.

CATHY HORNER Executive Administrator
Cathy started in 2018 as our executive administrator. She works closely with the owner to oversee total Project Management as well as managing the daily operations at the office. Cathy provides day to day communication with the SCM team and ensures jobs remain on schedule and within the budget. On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids going on adventures.

EARL THOMAS SENIOR CONSULTANT/TRAINER
Earl Thomas, who has 38 years of experience in the environmental waste management and safety and health fields, retired from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2006 as a Permits and Regulatory Affairs Analyst.
Earl currently serves as a consultant and instructor for SCM and facilitates a range of courses, such as advanced hazardous waste, DOT, IATA, IMDG, SPCC/APSA, and Hazwoper.
He is well-known by State and local regulators and has been a featured speaker at three Certified Unified Program Agency conferences. Earl has also authored a 298-page technical juxtapose comparing Federal hazardous waste laws and regulations to those used in California.

WILMER SOLORZANO SENIOR CONSULTANT/TRAINER
Wilmer comes to us with a wealth of construction experience. He is bilingual and will be delivering construction-related training in English and Spanish and also support our in-field needs to provide safety oversight and inspections at client projects, including PG&E. Wilmer will be an invaluable part of our “construction team” working alongside Matt and helping to develop our service portfolio in this area.

Richard comes to us with a wealth of construction experience. He is bilingual and will be delivering construction-related training in English and Spanish and also support our in-field needs to provide safety oversight and inspections at client projects.

RICK LUNA CONSULTANT/TRAINER
Rick joined SCM, as a consultant and trainer, in 2021. Prior to joining SCM, he spent 11 years managing the hazardous materials, waste, and emergency management programs for a large healthcare network, and 10 years providing hazardous waste disposal services for California industries. He has a passion for employee engagement and safety culture growth. Rick currently supports training and consultation for our hazardous materials and waste offerings, industrial hygiene monitoring, inspection services, respiratory protection services. Rick is also a certified Basic Life Support instructor with the American Heart Association. Outside of the office, Rick can be found cooking healthy food, playing music, and tending to his garden.

STEVEN MOOMEY Safety Technician
Steven Moomey is SCM’s Safety Technician. As a Safety Technician Steven is responsible for auditing and maintaining the vast array of safety equipment at SCM Safety. Additionally, Steven conducts audits, safety walks, equipment testing and inspections, and hazardous waste inspections.
He is also one of SCM Safety’s industrial hygiene technicians; he provides audiometric testing, respiratory fit testing, and customized hygiene testing for our clients.

CECILIA LOMELI REMOTE TRAINING ASSOCIATE
Cecilia is our Remote Instructor at SCM Safety. She started with SCM in 2019 and assists our online students with everything from enrollments, course material questions, to accounting. Away from the office, Cecilia enjoys attending Oakland A’s games and going to the beach.

ANGELICA MAYA (BILINGUAL) PROJECT COORDINATOR
Angelica started with SCM this year as an Administrative Assistant. She supports a variety of large projects and programs primarily focused on PG&E. On Angelica’s free time she loves watching movies and hiking. She loves spending time with friends, family and dogs.

Yadira is an admin assistant here at SCM Safety. She specializes in general health and safety and regulatory written programs. During her time off she enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves anything adventurous.

ALIX LOPEZ OFFICE & ACCOUNTS COORDINATOR
Alix is an admin assistant here at SCM Safety. Alix oversees the front office operations from answering phone calls to scheduling classes and creating your employees certifications. She will likely be the first person you speak with when contacting us and is committed to making your experience a positive one. Before working at SCM she worked as a Veterinary Technician, giving her the opportunities and skills needed to interact with a variety of clients. During Alix’s time off, she enjoys cheering on the San Jose Sharks and spending time with her husband and dog Bones.
