Happy Halloween! It’s that time of year – with ghosts, goblins, pirates, and other assorted costumed fun, compounded by candy and treats. We are going to try to provide you with the trick – your monthly safety quiz!
Knowing that it is also cold and flu season, and we still have COVID-19 lingering, we thought we’d focus on these common ailments. What do they have in common, and how might they differ? If you want to study before the quiz, here are some links that we used to gather the information. Answers are at the bottom of the safety tip as usual.
Similarities & Differences between Flu & Covid-19
1. When looking at the material about the common cold, flu, and COVID-19, we learned that, historically adults usually have one of these illnesses as often as 2 to 3 times each year. Which one is it?
1. A. An adult usually has a cold 2 to 3 times each year.
2. D. All these viruses can lead to the loss of taste or smell, usually temporarily.
3. D. Washing your hands frequently can prevent many contagious Illnesses.
4. B. Secondary bacterial infections occur more often in a severe case of the flu.
5. A. Your symptoms do not include a headache, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea which might indicate COVID-19 or the flu. With the symptoms listed in the question, you are more likely to have a cold.
6. A. A diagnosis of the rhinovirus usually means you have a cold. The influenza virus causes the flu, and the coronavirus causes COVID-19.
