The 12 Days of Safety

In 2023, Tip of the Week

While safety is an important workplace system that should be in place every day of the year, we thought that, as Christmas and New Year’s Eve approach, we could include a little holiday cheer with our safety tip. To get you into the mood, you could listen and watch this rendition of the holiday standard carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” by one of our favorite singing groups, the Muppets with John Denver.

And now – The 12 Days of Safety, from SCM:

On the first day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – A safe and compliant workplace.

On the second day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – Two-year renewal for CPR training.

On the third day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – Forklift three-year recertification.

On the fourth day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you –Four to one ladder ratio.

On the fifth day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you –Five-year OSHA log retention.

On the sixth day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – Fall protection at six feet rule.

On the seventh day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – Seven-year OSHA Severe Injury Look-Back report.

On the eighth day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – Eight-hour air monitoring for threshold limit values.

On the ninth day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you – Nine DOT hazmat classifications.

On the tenth day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you –10-hour OSHA training.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, the SCM team gave to you –Eleven (approximate) percent amputation injuries in construction (from the Seven Year Injury Report).

This holiday season, we are grateful for you, the hardworking, often under appreciated safety professional. Thank you for the work you do to keep workers everywhere safe.

Also, we appreciate our SCM Safety Tip team. To give them a well-deserved holiday, we are suspending the safety tips of the week until January 8, 2024. Until then…

HAPPY HOLIDAYS from all of SCM to all of you!
