What’s Wrong in the Picture?
In case you are wondering as you look at the picture, the cord on the yellow post is being used as permanent wiring. Is that okay? The cord looks to be in good condition. If you look at 29 CFR Part 1910.305(a)(2), it provides a list of approved uses of temporary wiring, which you can interpret as extension cords. The regulation lists approved uses like holiday decorations, and states that you can only use temporary wiring for 90 days or less.
In other words, this extension cord is being used as permanent wiring, which is not acceptable according to the regulation.
