Earlier this month, we talked about things we can do to prevent cardiac and heart-related health problems. We did not discuss the correct procedures for doing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures. Let’s take a quick quiz and see how much you can remember. AHA statistics from 2021 state that only about 4 – 5% of people who have heart attack outside a hospital survive. What is the survival rate if someone quickly uses an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)?

A. With an AED there is as many as a 70% survival rate.

B. With an AED there is as many as a 50% survival rate.

C. With an AED there is as many as an 90% survival rate.

D. With an AED there is as many as a 60% survival rate.
